Note: Drilling for mortice locks
Pultrusion makes conventional morticing difficult. We recommend ordering doors pre-machined for mortice locks; if not, follow this guide.
Timber Options
Radiata Pine
The pine we use is precision quarter-sawn, kiln-dried, and dressed on all four sides, a process that ensures excellent dimensional stability. To deliver a product that is strong and dependable, the timber is carefully selected, managed, and processed at every stage. Thanks to its superior stability, Emberwood is especially well suited for oversized doors.
Rosewood
A dependable hardwood for joinery, it features rich colour variations ranging from yellow-brown to golden and red-brown tones. It offers striking natural beauty, excellent durability, and versatility across a wide range of applications—qualities typically found only in more expensive timbers or in species that lack the same visual appeal and ease of working.
Emberwood
A timber choice that offers excellent stability, strength, and durability. It features a rich chocolate-brown colour and a consistent, even grain. Emberwood is thermally modified in computer-controlled kilns, a process that alters the timber at a cellular level so it no longer absorbs moisture. As a result, it resists movement and dimensional change far better than most natural timber products.
Western Red Cedar
Sourced from Canadian forests, this timber is valued worldwide for its rich red tones, stability, and natural variation in grain. We supply “stripy cedar,” meaning each board features a mix of colours and shades. The striped effect can be softened with a light stain if a more even appearance is preferred.
